Adopt a Vine: The Reestlandhoeve expands vineyard and invests in conservation!
Thursday, November 10, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Zorghoeve at the Reestlandhoeve. There was a reception organized for people involved in the Zorghoeve such as the participants of the day care of the Reestlandhoeve and their loved ones, care professionals, WMO employees and others.
In the past 10 years the Zorghoeve has developed into an indispensable part of the Reestlandhoeve. Besides a review of 10 years Zorghoeve and future plans, Stichting Musica in Vita presented itself. This foundation was founded last year on behalf of informal care support for people with memory problems and to support the Zorghoeve financially and/or materially.
Thanks to our work, Daniëlle and Wilma are often in conversation with family caregivers. These conversations are basically about the care of their loved one through support from the Zorghoeve. Time after time, year after year, we notice that informal caregivers, specifically informal caregivers of people with memory problems, have more questions than we can answer from our work, that they need extra support, other support than the care farm can offer. Many need more knowledge and expertise about what is going on with their loved one and how to deal with it. We refer in this regard. To the relevant case managers, to Alzheimer cafés, to home care organizations, to independent client supporters, to general practitioners and practice support workers etc., to whatever expertise is most appropriate at that time.
But the recurring questions, the constant need for support among caregivers, continued to gnaw at us. A need that we cannot meet from our work, since the goals/results and budgets linked to them are focused on the person with the disease or disorder himself, but which we do consider very important.
The importance of supporting family caregivers is emphasized by several national organizations, such as the Trimbos Institute and Alzheimer’s Netherlands, for example, and there are also several initiatives where people can meet and/or gather information, think of the Alzheimer’s cafés and family care meetings that are organized. Still, we think we meet a need and offer an offer that so far is not or insufficiently accessible in the immediate area.
We want to make it possible for informal caregivers of people with memory problems to follow a course that gives them more insight and practical tools.
It’s all about: Understanding, accepting, effectively supporting. Experience-based support according to the Böhm method.
Provided we raise enough money in time, the first course will start in March 2023. €3800 is needed for a first course.
Additionally, we have already planned a date for a first informal caregiver meeting day: Feb. 17, 2023 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. An informal walk-in morning without an agenda to meet and identify needs for a follow-up.
With the informal care support we focus on informal caregivers in the area, for this someone does not need to have a relationship with the Reestlandhoeve. Besides informal care support, the Musica in Vita Foundation wants to raise contributions to provide for Zorghoeve de Reestlandhoeve on a material level (materials for the construction of a storage shed), on a financial level (gifts and donations) and in the form of services (carpenters, installer). All this viewed in the context of the job shed. (But it could also be considered, for example, a stand-up chair).
Obviously, the Foundation stands or falls on the gifts and donations that are made. We are still young, just getting started and there is not much in the coffers yet. But the beginning is there and we are happy with the donations made so far. Through this newsletter and other means we hope to gain more publicity and hopefully more donors so that the course can start next spring and be repeated.
The foundation board consists of: Wilma Huisman (president), Daniëlle Kremer (secretary) and Sander van ‘t Zand (treasurer). The board receives no financial remuneration. So all donations benefit the charity.
