Celebrating life together with natural wines that have music in them

Wine estate and care farm Reestlandhoeve
Family business with respect for people and nature

Recently the farmhouse has been expanded with a beautiful Wine Bar where guests can enjoy our Reestlander wines with delicious Farmers Board filled with local products. Our vineyard now covers an area of 3.5 hectares and annually produces beautiful wines with their own flavor and bouqet. All our wines are produced naturally and are very popular. It is not for nothing that our Dutch wines receive international awards every year.

We are proud of that!

Moving with what is possible creates new opportunities

The story of the Wine Estate and Care Farm the Reestlandhoeve begins with a setback in 2001. Because of his hernia, John was no longer able to run the organic livestock farm. We started looking for another use for the farm, which had been owned by the Huisman family for generations. In agriculture at that time, no branch was profitable. Viticulture was still in its infancy in the Netherlands. A tour of Dutch vineyards revealed that most wines were not yet drinkable. Except for a few examples that convinced us. It had to be possible to make good wine in the Netherlands. Although there was still a lot of room for improvement.

In 2003, the first vines went into the ground at the Reestlandhoeve.

Making the world a little more beautiful together, the driving force behind the Reestlandhoeve

In 1993 when John took over the dairy farm from his parents, we converted the farm to an organic dairy farm. We both grew up on a farm where respect for people and nature and natural healing were very normal. So it was also a logical step for us to continue naturally in viticulture.

We use homeopathy, minerals and natural fertilizers in viticulture to keep our vines healthy.

Always looking for alternative methods to keep the vineyard healthy.

Thus, since 2015, during the growing season, music has been heard in our Overijssel vineyard. Several researchers (including Dorothy Retallack and Dr. T.C. Singh) have been working to show that music has a beneficial effect on plant development. The idea is that it makes grapevines stronger and better able to resist disease and fungus.

This is also our experience.

Classical music produces a better harvest. The wines are purer in flavor. And walking through the vineyard, the music creates a special atmosphere.

We produce our exclusive Reestlander wine in our own way

Together with winemaker Amund Pierik of Neerlands Wijnmakerij we make the Reestlander wines. The winery has up-to-date professional knowledge and uses the latest techniques.

We produce our own wine in our own way in our own barrels.

We regularly attend the winery to taste through our wines, working with the team at Neerlands Winery to make every effort to bring an exclusive Reestlander wine to market each year.

Would you like to experience this process up close?

Become one of our Vine lease certificate holders. You will then receive an annual invitation to taste the raw wines from the barrel.

People with care needs are part of our Wine Estate

We not only create an ideal environment for our vines and our guests. Since 2013, day care is also offered at the Reestlandhoeve for people with care needs. Participants get the opportunity 4 days a week to actively participate in the daily work at our winery, thus remaining part of our society.
