Adopt a vine

Celebrating life together with natural wines that have music in them

Reestlandhoeve Winery and Care Farm
A family business with respect for people and nature

The farm has recently been expanded with a beautiful wine bar where guests can enjoy our Reestlander wines with a delicious farmer’s platter filled with local products. Our vineyard now covers an area of 4.5 hectares and produces wonderful wines with their own unique taste and bouquet every year.

All our wines are produced naturally and are very popular. It is no coincidence that our Dutch wines win international awards every year.

We are very proud of that!

Going with the flow creates new opportunities

The story of the De Reestlandhoeve winery and care farm begins with a setback in 2001. Due to a herniated disc, John was no longer able to run the organic livestock farm. We started looking for a new purpose for the farm, which had been in the Huisman family for generations.

At that time, no branch of agriculture was profitable. Viticulture was still in its infancy in the Netherlands. A tour of Dutch vineyards revealed that most wines were not yet drinkable. With a few exceptions, however, we were convinced. It had to be possible to make good wine in the Netherlands, even if there was still much room for improvement.

In 2003, the first vines were planted at the Reestlandhoeve.

Making the world a little bit better together: the driving force behind the Reestlandhoeve

In 1993, when John took over the dairy farm from his parents, we converted it into an organic dairy farm. We both grew up on a farm where respect for people and nature and natural healing were the norm. So it was a logical step for us to continue in viticulture in a natural way.

In our wine cultivation, we use homeopathy, minerals and natural fertilisers to keep our vines healthy.

Always searching for alternative methods to keep the vineyard healthy.

Since 2015, music has been playing in our vineyard in Overijssel during the growing season. Various researchers (including Dorothy Retallack and Dr T.C. Singh) have been working to demonstrate that music has a beneficial effect on plant development. The idea is that it makes the vines stronger and better able to resist diseases and fungi.

That has also been our experience.

Classical music results in a better harvest. The wines have a purer taste. And when walking through the vineyard, the music creates a special atmosphere.

We produce our exclusive Reestlander wine in our own unique way

We produce Reestlander wines in collaboration with winemaker Amund Pierik from Neerlands Wijnmakerij. The winery has access to the latest professional knowledge and uses state-of-the-art techniques.

We produce our own wine in our own way in our own barrels.

We are regularly present at the winery to taste our wines, working together with the Neerlands Wijnmakerij team to ensure that we bring an exclusive Reestlander wine to the market every year.

Would you like to experience this process up close?

Become part of our Wine club. Each year, you will receive an invitation to taste the raw wines from the barrel.

People with care needs are part of our vineyard

We don’t just create an ideal environment for our vines and our guests. Since 2013, the Reestlandhoeve has also been offering daytime activities for people with care needs. Four days a week, participants have the opportunity to actively participate in the daily activities on our vineyard, allowing them to remain part of our community.
