You can’t avoid it anymore

Our summers are getting warmer. Global warming is being felt more and more clearly. Also in the Netherlands. With major consequences for our nature. We all know that by now. We see the challenges around us increasing. Monoculture in agriculture makes crops vulnerable to pests, plant diseases and natural disasters.

You try to be more and more frugal with our natural environment. That often includes separating trash in your own square footage, eating more consciously and using less plastic. Every little bit helps.

But what exactly do your efforts yield?

Nature-inclusive wine means growing wine within the boundaries of nature, environment and habitat with a positive effect on biodiversity. So together with nature instead of against it. This makes the landscape more resilient and the yield more stable. While lowering costs.

What that looks like? Expansion of vines enriched with various herbs in the grassland and at the head of each row native shrubs that attract butterflies and other insects. With a wide strip around the vineyard where “old” nature is restored. Ditches that drain excess water and retain water in dry periods. Wind-resistant hedges and wooded banks where birds nest and smaller animals find shelter. Supplemented by other plants, fences and falcon boxes allowing birds of prey to return. Nature back in original balance.

For €50 per vine, you are already contributing to this good life. You get to experience up close what your investment yields. And you get the first bottle of nature-inclusive homegrown wine as a gift. It is a one-time investment that allows you to enjoy the benefits for 5 years. After 5 years you will receive your bottle of wine from the nature-inclusive vineyard.

Making the world a little more natural together

Wine estate and care farm Reestlandhoeve is a family business. Since 2003 we produce natural Dutch quality wines with which we win awards every year. We grow as much as possible organically with respect for people and nature. We strive for an ideal environment for our vines, our guests and people with care needs. Participants of the Zorghoeve have the opportunity to actively participate in daily activities on our Wine Estate under professional guidance. Thus, they too remain part of our society.

Why now? And answers to other questions

For 2 reasons…1. –We have a one a mission Reestlandhoeve is a family business. We converted our organic farm to a nature-friendly Wine Estate 20 years ago. We are already well on our way, but we can do even better. Bas, our son, joined us in 2020. As a young entrepreneur, he continues our mission and wants to work even more together with nature. He dreams of a future-proof landscape, like it used to be. Where nature’s biodiversity keeps the vines in condition. By adopting a vine you contribute to this mission. So that a beautiful piece of nature comes back to the Netherlands. 2. – The demand for our award-winning natural Dutch wines continues to grow The consistent quality is striking and there is an increasing demand for natural wine from our own soil. This calls for an expansion of our Wine Estate.

Yes, that’s right! We protect grapes by using natural means as much as possible. But in time, with a bio-diverse landscape, that may not be necessary at all. Because more diversity in plants and crops naturally protects the landscape. And that diversity will soon attract plenty of natural enemies of insects that our grapes enjoy.

In 5 years we will be able to harvest the first grapes from the vines we plant with this project. Think what your own bottle of natural Dutch wine will taste like then!

It depends. We will plant several varieties and expect to produce at least 2 different exclusive editions. In due course we will contact you to take stock of which bottle of nature-inclusive wine you would like to receive. So that we can produce very targeted wine in the winery. You can even choose a non-alcoholic wine.

Yes! There is music in our Reestlander wines. You can taste that. And so is the wine we make from the grapes that will soon come from your adopted vine.

With biodiversity, we often need to intervene less, but the work remains. Take pruning, bunch thinning and harvesting, for example. There is plenty of work in the vineyard! With the expansion that will only increase. Also, soon we want many more people to enjoy “the good life. We have all kinds of plans for that. Although these plans are still a little too early to reveal now. As a Vine adoptive ‘parent’ you will be sitting in the front row to also experience these adventures up close with us!
